Your Doors Need Service!
You probably don't realize it, but your doors are feeling a little neglected.
It's true! Doors can suffer from neglect, just like cars can without regular maintenance like oil changes and tire rotations. And if you don't take care of them, they'll start to show signs of wear and tear that can lead to bigger issues down the road.
Your doors have so many things to do. They have to open and close, they have to make people feel safe, they have to look pretty, and they have to help you save money on energy costs. And when they get worn out? That's when things can get really expensive.
That's why it's so important for you to take care of your doors—and that means regular maintenance!
If you've got doors in your workplace, we've got some information for you that will help keep them healthy and functioning at their best.
Here are a few tips for keeping your doors happy:
Oil changes: Every 3,000 - 5,000 miles (or every 15,000 operations) your car needs an oil change. The same is true for doors, which need regular maintenance on their hinges and locks as well as their door closers to keep them in tip-top shape.
Tire rotations: Just like with car tires, doors can "wear out" over time due to constant use by people who pass through them every day. To prevent this from happening too quickly, it's important to ensure that you have the right grade of hardware to start.
Grade 1: Heavy-duty commercial - 800,000 cycles
Grade 2: Light-duty commercial - 400,000 cycles
Grade 3: Residential - 200,000 cycles
Do you know what door maintenance schedule you might need for your facility?
There are several factors to consider when determining how often to inspect and maintain your door hardware. The most important ones are:
1. The type of door: sliding, swinging or revolving. This will determine the amount of maintenance required.
2. The amount of traffic flowing through the door: if there is a lot of traffic, then the more frequently it should be maintained.
3. The location of the door: if it is in a high traffic area, then you may have to perform more frequent maintenance than if it is in an area with less traffic flow.
4. The material used for construction: wood doors require more frequent maintenance than metal doors because wood absorbs moisture quicker than metal does which causes deterioration over time
You need Door service for every 15,000 operations or cycles of your door! Here's how often you should get your doors checked:
# of employees or people using the door x 2 x 365 = Door Cycles
Here's an example using 50 employees.
50 x 2 = 100 x 365 = 36,500 door cycles - So They would need a service check up 2 times a year.
You can figure out how often you need service by averaging out how many people walk through the opening.
